UK-
Internet Adspend up 40%
According to figures released by Price Waterhouse Cooper
and the Internet Advertising bureau, for the UK, spend on advertising has climbed
40% for the first half of 2006.
This places the
Internet just 1% behind the spend on national newspaper advertising. The rise
in paid search spend has risen by a staggering 58% on 2005. Pop-up advertising
is the only sector to see a fall.
The rise is seen to be attributed
to the sharp increase in UK broadband use, and according to a study by Yougov,
the amount of time a typical
the
amount of time a typical user spends online per week is 23 hrs.
This
news is hot on the heels of rumours concerning Google's pending expansion to acquire
new offices in New York City. To be specific 111 Eighth Avenue, Manhattan - 300,000
sq ft. They are obviously reassured enough to make the commitment just based on
the UK market figures
