24th March05

What's up with Google?
On the 11th of March we reported some strange behavior in Googles BackLink index. At the time it had been oscillating between a January and early February update for about 4 days. We had fully expected it to settle down, however it hasn't 14 days later it is still raging between the two figures.

We have been mapping Google BackLinks, on the above chart the blue line shows the oscillation for the site monitored between 105 and 112 back links. Normally a sites BackLink status will flip from one to another fairly cleanly (note the 3rd March from 97 to 105).

Interestingly the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) listings, in Green, started to change on the 17th, roughly when people started noticing changes to the datacentre activity.
