V
Festival Weston Park
Matt's away on holiday for a few days so I thought I'd share a few
photos and thoughts from the weekends activities at the V Festival Staffordshire.
Rain
was the order of the day this past Sunday when Matt and I took a trip to Weston
Park and V Festival 2007. I'm not saying the rain was a problem, because it
just isn't a British Festival without a downpour and mud.
The
day started relatively normal for us. If you count a secret Foo Fighters acoustic
set as normal. Soon after arriving at Weston Park, we made our way to the second
stage to find our bearings and happened across Dave and Co serenading the crowd
with a Foo Fighter classic. Needless to say, we were in awe. According to the
time sheet, that slot was down for a band called 606, although upon further research
later that evening, it turns out 606 is Dave Grohl's favourite number and the
name of his purpose built studio.
The
rest of the day was made up of bands that, for the most part, did themselves proud.
Bands such as The Thrills, The Fray and Jet all extracting sing alongs from the
crowd, but you just can't follow that Foo Fighters set.
After the rain brings the mud.
Eventually Snow Patrol took to the Main Stage and played all their
hits, along with an old song or 2. They dedicated recent hit Chasing
Cars to Dave Grohl, who ran onto the stage at the end of the song
to hug lead singer Gary Lightbody. To which he could only reply,
"well that doesn't happen every day".
Not everyone was troubled by the mud, this guy chose to take off
his shoes and dance.
Finally, the Foo Fighters took to the stage and opened with fan
favourite, "Everlong". They burned through the set with
the usual banter inbetween songs. At one stage, Dave invited his
mother onto the stage to say hello to the rabid crowd.
The
night was wrapped up with the classic "All My Life" and we started our
long trek home. Cold, wet, muddy, tired, but beaming from ear to ear.
