Google
SERPs in free fall.
There
is a hive of activity in the forums, some SEO's are saying this is Florida Mk2
"the one we've all been dreading".
The
changes in SERPs have been significant, just like Florida
in Nov 2003. It has been noted that quite a number of directory sites have
risen in the SERPs, at the expense of sites that fulfill the search criteria.
If
your search is for a mortgage, you are most likely trying to find a provider of
mortgages. With Google's current results what you get is a list of sites discussing
mortgage products, offering advice or a list of lenders but the brokers and those
actually selling mortgages have all but disappeared..
eg
"Mortgage"
This is very similar to the Florida Update, almost exactly.
At the time in 2003 it was speculated that the reason for this, was to drive commercial
companies towards paying for their listings in Adwords. Whether this is the case
or not, Google has disturbed its search usefulness and not it would appear for
the better.
