SEO, after Jagger.

Last week was the first gathering of the SEO Community since Google's Jagger Update. You might think that it would have been a perfect opportunity for some clarification on what Jagger was about, and how to stay clear of its clutches. So what did Charles Martin from Google have to say;

Don't get obsessive about PageRank.
Don't get obsessive over BackLinks, Google's tool only identifies a proportion of the sites linking.
Identify sites with related content to link with.
W
ho you link to can affect your reputation.
Attract links naturally by
creating unique relevant content.
Avoid reciprocal links.
Avoid poor quality links.
Use anchor text when linking
Never hide content or links.
Do not cloak pages.
Do not use Gateways/ Doorways.
Always design a site for the user not the search engine.

Effectively nothing changed from New York in February. Except for one critical element, back in February Matt Cutts warned about link networks, Charles appeared to make more of a point of it
"You can be held accountable for linking to people".
