the Search Engine Optimisation industry.
Value of a $38,100 link !What value do you put on a link? Would you pay $38,100 for a PR8 or PR9? Well someone did, when Alex Tew decided to sell each pixel of a 1000x1000 pixel web site. ( www.milliondollarhomepage.com ) The list of advertisers is significant. Whilst it might be amongst the wackiest ideas on the Internet, and has certainly changed Alex's life forever, as far as the buyers go the value of the links are almost worthless. OK there aren't a million links, because buyers have bought more than one pixel. For arguments sake let's say the average size of each ad is 10 pixels, there are 100,000 links. Looking at what we know about PageRank and how it migrates, if the web page results in having a PageRank of PR6 or above the value of the links and what they migrate will be PR6
= 262,144 page points, migrating 2.62 page
points But
the sad thing is that a link from a PR3 web page that has no other links would
migrate 515 page points, a PR4 would migrate 4096 page points. Which begs the
question would you pay $38,100 for a link from a PR3 or PR4....sand to the Arabs! M.P
