Engine Optimisation Web Log (BLOG) Editor: Matt Paines |
This News Blog is dedicated to bringing news, information and innovations targeting
the Search Engine Optimisation industry.
Google
goes offline with search Google is all set to launch an offline web
browser service called Google Gears. The open source application will
allow users of the search engine to access online services such as Google news
reader, offline. It is aimed at those as-yet-untapped pockets of consumers
in the most inaccessible places across the globe. It also has benefits for what
are as described difficult to reach business travellers. Google Gears extends
the search engine's reach and is set to revolutionise consumer access to the internet
and challenge Google's rival Microsoft, according to industry commentators. The
technology will be a free service and adds a new dimension of search marketing
opportunities and means that Google is set to achieve complete global access.
Google CEO Eric Schmidt said the new development tackles a key limitation
of the browser in order to make it a stronger platform for deploying all types
of applications and enabling a better user experience in the cloud. The
new application is another step in the fight in what has been described as a 'turf
war' in the search marketing. The announcement comes as Yahoo! launched
its search platform, Panama, in Europe.
