This News Blog is dedicated to bringing news, information and innovations targeting
the Search Engine Optimisation industry.

Indexing Summit Danny
Sullivan chaired the meeting which included Matt Cutts from Google,
Kaushal Kurapati from ASK,
Tim Mayer from Yahoo
and Eytan Seidman from MSN
Search.
A
couple of weeks ago Danny Sullivan proposed a means of linking without actually
helping the recipient site with PageRank. The reason is to make guest books and
blogs less open to abuse. The search engines have embraced the idea and have been
in the process of implementing the new standard. We are now seeing a new period
of glasnost. Where the search engines are inviting views from the industry as
to what other issues exist that can be implemented.
Other
issues up for discussion Redirects - 301/302 and how to handle them. Banned
- a means of identifying if a site is banned. Reporting - better tools that
indicate the progress of indexing. Express inclusion - is an express service
needed. Keyword referrals - recent changes in the SE's have meant keywords
are becoming more difficult
to collect Duplicate handling - identifying priority pages Domain management
- multiple domains pointing to one Index indicator - to show when search engines
are indexing Page specific tags - requesting spiders not to read sections
of pages Date specific - prioritising dated content java script handling
