Search Engine Explained

Understanding Search Engines

Not that difficult really. What are the goals of a search engine- advertising! The more page impressions they get the higher the revenue for advertising. To get a high audience they have to full fill the requirements of that audience. Imagine you are an Internet user and you are looking to buy a book ........

........you go to your favourite Search Engine type in "book supplier", the results you get are everything from Insurance Services to Naughty Linda Online. You have not full filled your objective- so you go to another Search Engine which does give you a list of book suppliers.

Which Search Engine are you going to use next time?

So if the Search Engines just want high traffic then for them to do so, it has to perform to the expectations of the user. This being the case the Search Engines are on the look out for sites that are not relevant to the search criteria.

Unfortunately this means they are looking for the "little tricks" that are used to increase the relevancy of a site. They are aware of "keyword cramming" in meta tags, they know all about white text on a white backgrounds, they can identify links programs, redirects, and keyword spamming.

There are ways however of giving the Search Engines what they want without using tricks, its called ethical search engine positioning- anything else may get you may get lucky and attain some short term results- but they will not last forever.
