Le Mans or Bust.

For those that don't know me, I have two big passions in my life, firstly my family - secondly motorcycling. Four years ago I finally decided to take my test for bigger bikes (and for anyone preparing to do it in the UK, I have every sympathy). Anyway for some time I've been promising myself a trip more than out and back in a day.

Why Le Mans? If you aren't into motorbikes or motorsport then you probably will not be aware that the weekend of the 19th May is the 5th round of the MotoGP. With the likes of Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner battling for championship points. Le Mans or Bust

Piper Cub -oops However having got the plane to the UK there was just one thing left to do - Jem being the only non-pilot had still not been up in the Cub, and having been in the chase car for so long, he was longing to get airside. The rest of the tale I'm going to leave to Jem to tell for himself- a video is also on it's way.

Google""'s paid links crackdown causes uproar.

Google's request for webmasters to report paid links has not been well received in some quarters.

It is no secret that Google has never been happy about paid links (the process of buying links on sites for the purpose of the link, not the traffic) as it believes they have a negative influence on the algorithm. And there is a general consensus in the SEO community that paid links have become an impediment to Google's ability to deliver good results. Google and paid links

How to.... check if your site has been copied.

Plagiarism on the internet is a huge problem, and because the internet is world wide there are issues regarding enforcement of your rights. I guess the first thing is to identify if your site has been copied. One of the best ways to do this is use an online resource such as www.copyscape.com. Copyscape will not only tell you if a page has been copied, but it will also highlight the text that has been copied.

Having found that your content has been reproduced without your consent and without giving you credit to as the source, what can you do about it? What to do about plagiarism.

Duplication of content- recipe for disaster.

Over the last couple of weeks we have had three clients all with duplication issues that have impacted their rankings in Google.

In February 2003 Google registered a new patent for technology for
identifying duplicate pages, and more importantly, near duplicate pages.
This technology is intended to address web spam, where copy is taken and
reused multiple times, just changing the odd word or phrase to change the
emphasis and hence the optimisation. However completely legitimate uses have
also incurred a penalty with regard to this filter. Duplication and Canonical domain names.

How to.... check your your site for relevancy.

There are three main areas that constitute rankings in search engines. Spider accessibility, keyphrase relevancy and authority. Last month we discussed "how to... check if your site is built for search engines" basic spider accessibility.

One of the biggest problems faced with webmasters and site owners alike is how to identify what phrases to optimise for. Checking for relevancy
